Considered as the perfect destination for a luxury holiday, Barbados is a green island with tall palms and banana trees, and famous sandy beaches. As the easternmost of the Caribbean isles, it enjoys an untouched feel, being less commercialized than some of its neighbours.

With a unique blend of Caribbean and British cultures, you’ll find colourful houses, historical monuments as well as luxury hotels in Barbados, all of which complement the tropical landscape and the friendly welcoming atmosphere.

Barbados has boutique hotels dotted across the island, which focus on making your luxury Barbados holiday experience intimate and personal. These operate on a smaller scale with extra attention to the decor and furnishings that give every room a special, homely and luxurious feel. The elegant Cobblers Cove is one example. Its luxury suites and cottages deliver the utmost luxury. The hotel has suites with private pools set on the roof and private balconies to let you settle and relax in your own space. You will be encouraged to enjoy the water sports laid on such as water skiing, windsurfing, sailing and snorkelling, all of which take advantage of the stunning blue sea that surrounds the island.

With its warm Caribbean waters, Barbados offers world class diving and snorkelling where you can encounter colourful and strange tropical fish. Even if you don’t SCUBA dive, you can snorkel directly from the beaches, where there are fish within reach. The beaches for snorkelling are often emptier than many other Caribbean islands so as you relax on your luxury holiday in Barbados, you won’t have to share the view with throngs of other holiday makers.

This principle is reflected in the luxury hotels Barbados offers, many of which are smaller upscale properties with an emphasis on hospitality rather than holding a large number of residents.

This is true of Little Arches, one of Barbados’ boutique hotels, where the focus is on quality not quantity, with just ten suites in the hotel. It boasts a top-ranking restaurant and will give your luxury holiday in Barbados a sense of pleasant seclusion that you might miss on the average beach holiday.

Barbados is not all about the beach though; there are also some cultural sites to see on your luxury holiday. Barbados is an island with deep historical ties to Britain and the former Empire. In the capital, Bridgetown, you will see the colonial influence borne out in the streets, squares and the plazas; there’s even a statue of Lord Horatio Nelson in the National Heroes Square. You’ll see monuments that mark the emancipation of the slaves that worked here on the sugar plantations, visit the sugar mills, and of course sample the rum that the Barbados sugar is still used for.

The colonial legacy has the benefit that the Barbadians will all have a firm grasp of English, making communication easy for travellers. And the colonial flavour still shows in some of Barbados’s luxury hotels, too. The Coral Reef Club is a family owned hotel in a building of British West Indian style that provides fine dining, and a delightful setting for a luxury Barbados holiday. The ‘Plantation Suites’ have separate bedrooms and living areas, and include their own private pools for a relaxing luxury experience that will let you enjoy the serenity and beauty of this island.

The Caribbean is one of the most popular exotic holiday destinations. The Dominican Republic was the most popular Caribbean island in 2009, with almost 4 million visitors in 2009. Located on the island of Hispaniola, it’s one of two Caribbean islands that is shared by two countries – the western third of the island is occupied by Haiti.

In the 1490’s the Dominican Republic became the site of the first permanent European settlement in the Americas, and Spain’s first capital in the New World.

The Dominican Republic has the second largest economy in the Caribbean, dominated by the services industry despite its reputation for sugar production. It’s tourism that fuels the country’s economic growth, representing an estimated one in every seven jobs.

Tourists are often attracted to the country because of its year-round golf course, the warm climate and great biological diversity. The Caribbean is home to around 9% of the world’s coral reefs, which cover about 20,000 square miles.

One of the best ways to explore the Caribbean is from the beautiful blue seas, and perhaps the most luxurious way to do so is with a yacht charter. Caribbean newcomers can start their trip at the hugely popular Dominican Republic and then sail across to one of the many other islands. Located in the midst of the Caribbean islands, the Dominican Republic is neighboured by Jamaica, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands.

Chartering a yacht gives you the freedom to go where you wish, with the luxury of travelling in a beautiful yacht. You can hire a skipper to sail the boat for you or, if you’re confident enough and have plenty of experience, you can take charge of your holiday and explore yourself.

Cruise and stay holidays are becoming increasingly popular offering you the best of both cruising and experiencing a holiday destination. Many people are seeking out this option as it beats spending hours stuck at an airport, limited activities available on a plane and travelling between locations, probably inside a stuffy bus.

A cruise and stay holiday allows you to take the stress out of travelling between locations and arranging different travel arrangements, allowing you to start your holiday straight away when you step on board and not when you get to your location.

There are many destinations to choose from including the popular Caribbean cruise and stay, then there is the beautiful Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Mexico , Jamaica, Haiti Florida and many more to choose from so you can either choose a destination based on a cruise and stay availability or see if a cruise is available for your destination of choice.

You can also find short cruises that go from and return you to Florida so you may enjoy the many ports of the Caribbean. One Caribbean port is Charlotte Amalie which is very popular for its bustling night life spots, great food and duty free shopping.

Another port with making a call at if possible is St Maarten, the part-Dutch and part-French island. Here you will find beautiful soft white sand beaches. St Maarten also offers delicious dining, exciting nightlife, friendly and safe atmosphere and a huge mix of cultures to meet and experience. St Maarten is only 37 square miles yet has over 80 different nationalities present.

A Caribbean cruise and stay would let you experience the many amazing ports of the Caribbean while not having to worry about the agenda arrangements.

Mexico is located in the northern region of the American continent between the Gulf of Mexico to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

Mexico is bordered by the USA to the north and by Guatemala and Belize on the south. Mexico’s land area extends 1,964,375 sq km, which is broadly divided into six tourist regions.

Northern Mexico is known for its extreme weather conditions and is characterised by its deserts, nature reserves and rugged mountain ranges. Some cities in the region are key industrial and business centres.

In Central Mexico or the Mexican heartland, you’ll find plenty of natural surroundings, picturesque towns full of life and color, and beautiful colonial cities, some of which have been declared World Heritage sites.

Southern Mexico is lined with the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. The region offers an abundance of marshes, mangrove swamps and forests, all of which are ideal for ecotourism outings and exciting outdoor adventures.

The Yucatan Peninsula is the gateway to the Mayan world, where you can enjoy the white-sand beach resorts and the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. Here you can scuba dive along the world’s second largest coral reef. You can also swim in fresh water pools in submerged caverns, known as cenotes.

In the Pacific Coast region, you’ll find cities and towns with rich cultural and culinary traditions, as well as some of the best beaches for water sports like surfing and fishing.

The Baja California Peninsula territory has been inhabited from time immemorial, in this region you can play golf on world-class courses, discover the underwater treasures of the Sea of Cortez, and witness the amazing migration of the Gray Whale.

Mexico’s 32 states are truly diverse, as each one has countless tourist destinations offering a wide array of activities.

Probably one of Mexico’s most important and famous beach resorts is Acapulco, which is located on the Pacific coast, 395 kilometers (245 miles) from Mexico City and 133 kilometers (83 miles) from Chilpancingo, the state capital of Guerrero. It has a warm, humid climate with temperatures ranging from 22º C (72º F) to 33º C (91º F) with sunny days throughout the year.

Among the port city’s many enticing qualities are: its beautiful bay, one of the best in the world; the calm waters of its beaches; the amenities offered by its well established hotel industry, which in recent years has undergone a major revamping, especially in the Punta Diamante neighborhood; and finally, the city’s unbeatable nightlife, which offers one of the hottest playgrounds among Mexican vacation destinations.

For those who have never visited Acapulco, we recommend that you visit la Isla de la Roqueta (Roqueta Island), an ideal island setting where you can either relax or enjoy some scuba diving. You’ll also want to check out the infamous La Quebrada, where fearless cliff divers plunge into the ocean below. If you’re looking for a little excitement of your own, Acapulco offers bungee jumping and parasailing, where from high above you can admire the stunning panoramic views of the bay, the hotel zone and the surrounding mountains, in their utmost splendor.

Nearby Acapulco, you can visit the beach of Pie de la Cuesta, known for its spectacular sunsets, or Puerto Marques, with it beautiful bay and calm waters. Finally, don’t miss out on Barra Vieja, where you are sure to enjoy delicious seafood dishes prepared in traditional Mexican restaurants.

The capital of Mexico is Mexico City, the oldest metropolis on the American continent. The city is perched atop a highland valley at about 2,240 meters (7,392 feet) above sea level. Towering high above the city’s southeast side are two volcanoes: Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. The nation’s capital has some of the best weather in the world with an average temperature of 22º C (72º F).

Once known as the City of Palaces, Mexico City has two areas that were declared World Heritage Sites by the UNESCO. The first, the Centro Historico (Historic Center), has beautiful historic and religious buildings, such as the Catedral Metropolitano (Metropolitan Cathedral), one of the most important architectural structures in the Western Hemisphere.

The Palacio Nacional (National Palace) has spectacular Diego Rivera murals that chronicle Mexico’s history. And Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts), which hosts the city’s most important cultural events, is a beautiful construction that blends art nouveau and art deco styles. The other World Heritage Site, Xochimilco Ecological Park, is often called the Venice of Mexico due to its beautiful canals. Flower-painted boats offer tours of the canals and floating gardens.

If you’re interested in cultural events, Mexico City offers a wide variety of museums, such as the Museo Nacional de Antropologia (a world-class anthropology museum), the Museo Nacional de Arte (The National Art Museum) and the Museo Nacional de Historia (a history museum in Chapultepec Castle where you can see an amazing exhibit that chronicles the nation’s history and art, from the pre-Hispanic era to present day).

In north Mexico City, you can visit the Basilica de Guadalupe, one of the most visited basilicas in the world; in fact, it is second only to Saint Peter’s Basilica, in Vatican City, in the number of visitors it receives each year. This is a must-see for those who want to learn more about the city’s customs and traditions.

What’s more, Mexico City is a cosmopolitan metropolis, where new and old traditions coexist side by side. Here you can go shopping at bazaars and crafts markets in the Coyoacan and San Angel neighborhoods. Or you can go to exclusive boutiques and shopping centers in the posh communities of Santa Fe and Polanco, where you’ll be surrounded by the comfort of top-notch hotels and restaurants.

Mexico is well recognized in the world for its rich gastronomic tradition which offers a great variety of dishes and beverages prepared with innumerable ingredients. The taste, aroma and texture of these ingredients can charm even the most demanding palate and thus turn Mexico into one of the most important destinations in the sphere of international cuisines.

Mexico is becoming a more popular tourist destination, especially for wedding parties and honeymooners, touring, its world heritage sites and its gastronomy.

Ready for a vacation? Relaxing and boding with your family doesn’t need to be expensive. Here are ten fabulous cheap vacations for budgets under $1,000.

1. A family of four can enjoy the great outdoors at a National Park for under $1,000. Buying some gear, getting there and park fees will not set you back too much. If you are really ready to be rustic, cook on a small camp stove or even over an open flame to save cash.

2. Take the kids to the most magical place on earth: Disney World. This popular theme park offers holiday deals to make this destination fit almost any budget. By booking during value seasons and staying at a value resort, you can get all of the fantasy and fun for a fraction of the cost.

3. Look to discount carriers like Southwest and JetBlue when booking a flight. By getting a deal on airfare, you could afford to take your family to some pretty remote destinations. Try Cochran, Ontario where you and your loved ones can bunk in a real igloo.

4. If you’re the kind of parent that likes to make every experience educational, take your family to Boston, a city dense with landmarks. By staying in the city you can easily get to Freedom Trail, a walking tour that will take you through the highlights.

5. Maybe you enjoy sleeping outdoors but are not ready to give up a hot shower in the morning. Visit a hot spring destination! In Hot Springs, Arkansas you can camp to save on lodging and still enjoy soaking away your day in the springs.

6. Adventurous adults making their way through Europe can save a lot of money by staying in hostels. Hostels are lodgings where travelers can stay for very little money. Though there is little in the way of quality control, they are perfect if you just need a place to sleep for a few nights before making your way to another city.

7. For a romantic vacation with your partner, check out travel packages on a cruise. Lines like Carnival frequently offer deals, some as low as $500. Book a trip to the Caribbean and spend your vacation walking slowly down some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

8. Travel the country by Greyhound Bus Lines. Greyhound will take you all over the United States so you can pick the cities you have always wanted to see. Try taking a bus overnight allowing you to sleep on board and be at your destination in the morning.

9. If you want to escape to an island for your vacation, check out Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa in Mexico. You can get a travel package that includes round trip airfare and three nights at the Resort for only $571.

10. If Mexico isn’t your style, you might try the Dominican Republic and, specifically, the Punta Cana Resort. This particular spot offers rooms as low as $150 per night, though the scenery is still five stars.

Let’s face it: it takes a lot of work to plan for a wedding. But, deciding where to go on your honeymoon once the knot has been tied is all about fun and fantasy. Whatever you are looking for from your honeymoon, you can find in Hawaii.

2. Tour the coast of southern Europe. The Mediterranean region offers both beauty and culture to the couple looking for a variety of experiences. Travel to Italy, where you can enjoy the sand by the sea and the beautiful mountain scenery of the Alps. Visit Rome and Vatican City, where you can take in ancient ruins and Baroque statues on one guided tour. In northern Italy, you will find the vibrant cultural centers of Venice and Milan. Stop off in the Florence and visit some of the most renowned museums in the world.

3. When looking for the perfect tropical destination, you cannot beat Tahiti. This Polynesian island might just be the closest thing to paradise on earth. There are pristine beaches to explore, of course, but also the rustic town of Papeete which has plenty of shops and eateries to appeal to tourists. Take a cruise tour of the surrounding islands, or even go below the water and visit the coral reefs.

4. Another tropical option is Anguilla, a tiny island near the British Virgin Islands. Anguilla is the place for couples who just want to relax and bask in the glorious sunshine. Besides the perfect beaches that you would expect from an island in the Caribbean, you can also expect to find hospitable lodgings and restaurants. This island is just the place to enjoy that perfectly romantic sunset.

5. The islands of Fiji combine pristine beaches with spectacular mountain views. Located in the South Pacific, it is one of the most beautiful locations you could find.
Orlando is world-famous for its huge theme parks and water parks, but they can get very crowded, so it’s best to get there before 8.30am, or go after 4.00pm in the afternoon. You’ll still have plenty of time if you go late afternoon, since most are open until 10pm or later, depending on the season. Be sure to plan your day at the park ahead of time, and take plenty of water and sunscreen.

Sea World
At this popular theme park you can feed dolphins, seals and sea lions; visit a man-made ‘Arctic’ ocean, with seals, polar bears, beluga whales and walruses, and take a moving walkway through a naturalistic snowy Antarctic habitat, with more than 200 penguins. You can also get close to sharks, eels, and barracuda; and visit new dolphin mothers and their calves in the popular Dolphin Nursery.

Wet ‘N’ Wild
Wet ‘N’ Wild’s new water ride, ‘Brain Wash’, has a 53-foot vertical drop into a 65-foot domed funnel, where you are bombarded with light, sound and video, as you swirl around the funnel before you finally make your escape. And an exciting new raft adventure joins the popular Surge, Bubba Tub, Black Hole and The Blast. Children love the Kid’s Park, featuring smaller versions of the adult rides.

Discovery Cove
Here the focus is on interacting with dolphins, birds, and marine life, and the big attraction is a swim with a bottlenose dolphin. You will have to make a reservation to visit this popular park, since attendance is limited to 1,000 guests per day. Go for a snorkel among thousands of rays and tropical fish, then visit the huge, free-flight aviaries, where you can feed and touch hundreds of tropical birds.

Islands of Adventure – Universal Studios
Innovative rides and attractions are scattered throughout this Universal theme park: Marvel Super Hero Island where Super Heroes battle diabolical Super Villains; Suess Landing with its Dr Suess characters; Lost Continent, a land of heart-stopping adventure; Jurassic Park where dinosaurs co-exist with humans; and Toon Lagoon where everyone gets soaked on wild water rides.

Magic Kingdom – Disney World
There are seven ‘lands’ here, surrounding the Cinderella Castle, where you and the kids can visit imaginary lands of adventure – take ride on a magic carpet, plunge down waterfalls, hurtle through space – or visit the all-time classics ‘It’s a Small World’, ‘The Haunted Mansion’, and the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’.

Universal Studios
This huge entertainment park has over 40 computer animated rides, and the world’s largest movie studio outside of Hollywood. Don’t miss the popular Nickelodeon studios and the movie sets. At the CityWalk there’s lots of entertainment, top restaurants, nightclubs and shops, in fact something for everyone.

Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach
Both of these water parks have big water slides, a pool at the centre, a huge play area, and a ‘lazy’ river, where you can take a relaxing tube ride around the park. Typhoon Lagoon is the world’s largest wave pool, where waves can reach six feet tall and you can surf here after hours. At Shark Reef you can snorkel with sharks, rays and tropical fishes.

Kennedy Space Centre Visitor Complex
A visit to Florida wouldn’t be complete without taking a daytrip to NASA’s launch headquarters, just 45 minutes from Orlando. Here you can tour launch and landing facilities, take a close-up look at huge rockets, train in interactive simulators, and even meet an astronaut. Try to time your visit to coincide with a launch or landing.

Busch Gardens Africa
This theme park, about an hour from Orlando, has more than 2,700 animals and is one of American’s largest zoos. There are also many exciting rides and attractions: SheiKra, the world’s highest vertical dive coaster; Gwazi, the southeast’s fastest double wooden roller coaster; Rhino Rally, Scorpion, and Edge of Africa.

Hot air balloon ride
The perfect ending to your exciting Orlando holiday would be an unforgettable early morning hot air balloon ride, with one of Orlando’s many ballooning companies. These fantastic tours usually finish with a delicious champagne breakfast and certificates and photos for all.

Tenerife and the the city of La Laguna is set to host Disney on Ice from March 14 to March 17. This is the only stop for the 90 person American cast in the Canary Islands.

Disney on Ice performances will take place at the Pabellon Santiago Martin in La Laguna. A spectacular ice rink with all the impressive effects that come with a Disney ice show will be installed for the occasion. Ticket prices are on sale for between 15 and 30 Euros for different seats. They can be purchased from several ticket outlets on Tenerife, including El Corte Ingles and Caja Canarias.

The touring ice show features live performances by Disney’s signature characters. “Disney on Ice Presents: A Disneyland Adventure” escorts the audience through a magical storyline. Performances incorporate characters from old and new Disney films. The set is a replica 1960’s Disneyland, with lots of details from the theme park’s conception.

The guides of the show are Mickey and Minnie Mouse, both famous since the early 1930’s. They are the centerpieces of the show. The audience will also enjoy Donald Duck, Pluto, Snow White and Cinderella. Alongside these time-tested favorites will be newer characters, like Buzz Lightyear and The Incredibles.

Spin in the teacups with Alice and the Mad Hatter. Revisit “It’s a Small World” and get spooked in the Haunted Mansion alongside Disney/Pixar’s The Incredibles. Experience the Pirates of the Caribbean and a Main Street USA parade. There is an attraction for every age group.

Many brand the show the largest “Ice Spectacular” on Earth. On July 14, 1981, the first Walt Disney’s World on Ice show premiered in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Since then audiences have been captivated by this figure skating extravaganza. The first performances of Disney’s “World on Ice” showcased the period’s top figure skaters alongside Disney’s trademark characters, and the tradition continues today, nearly thirty years later.

Since the star-studded beginning, Disney on Ice casts told the famous stories and fairytales of Disney films. Children and parents alike delight in the entertaining presentation. Visitors to Tenerife and locals of all ages in La Laguna will enjoy the cast of their favorite characters in this captivating performance.

The city of San Cristobal de La Laguna, or La Laguna for short, is home to La Laguna University. The university is home to 30,000 students and was founded in 1792. La Laguna is located on the northern part of the island of Tenerife, and was originally Tenerife’s capital. The city was dubbed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. The designation signifies that UNESCO works together with ruling parties to protect natural and cultural heritage at the site.

Tenerife is well known in Europe as a holiday island, with many British and German tourists taking a vacation on the island in the winter.

Disney on Ice is presently touring other cities in Spain, including stops in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Sevilla and Bilbao. The tour will make its final stop for the Spanish tour in La Laguna on Tenerife. After Tenerife, the tour will continue on to Portugal and Northern Ireland.

Good choice, you have chosen Barbados as the destination for your Caribbean surf trip, the warm waters of the Barbados are every surfers dream, leave your wetsuit at home, all you’ll need to brave these water are your boardshorts and a rashguard… and oh yeah Sunblock.

There are a number of local websites which can help you with everything from accommodation and car rental to hooking you up with a competent surf tour company. Local sites are better because not only do they have first hand knowledge of information you may require, but they are generally more up to date.

One of the things that makes this island and ideal surf destination (apart from the fact that there is always something to surf) is its size, you are never more than 45 minutes away from the surf. Therefore when choosing your accommodation it is best to look for somewhere along the coast that is central in terms of surf breaks, we would advise the south between long beach and Maxwell or Dover. Any good local surf site can give you a list of options for accommodation that welcomes surfers.

You’ve got your tickets, booked your accommodation and you must now decide whether to take your own board or hire one when you get there. Personally I think it is better to hire a board when you get there for several reasons. The first is that you risk damage to your board on the flight (the airlines do not accept responsibility and even if it does you are still without your board for all or at least part of your trip). Secondly you have to pay to transport the board anyway. Third is that there are several breaks on the island and one board may not be the best choice as conditions from break to break vary, when you rent a board from one of the better companies they allow you to change off to a longer or shorter board as conditions change. Much more convenient and it makes for the best out of each break.

The number of breaks in this small island is mind boggling for its size. The Soup Bowl on the east coast is the premier break on the island and is an advanced break with powerful waves that can top 12 ft when it goes off and is frequented by Kelly Slater whenever he is on the island. The soup bowl is like a magnet, if there is any swell around it will catch it. Its sister break “Parlour” which is separated from the soup bowl by just a boulder can be just as enjoyable with a smaller line-up.

The south coast has several breaks and which is the top spot depends on who you ask but it is generally agreed that the three at the top of the list are South Point, Freights and Brandons (Drill Hall). There are many other breaks on the South, some are known breaks and are listed by many surf sites on the net, some of them are secret spots and are known mainly to locals. For this reason we recommend that you contact one of the surf companies that offer surf tours and really experience the best surf on the island.

The west coast of the island only goes off on a north swell, but oh when it does. Perfection. While many of the breaks may seem to be a surfers dream, many may have their own hazards and this is another reason that we highly recommend that you utilize the services of a local surf tour company who can guide you through the do’s and don’ts, another benefit is that transportation and boards are included in their cost.

In the event that you decide to brave the breaks on your own you will seriously need to consider renting a car to get to the different breaks in this case bring your own soft racks as very few, if any, car rental companies carry racks and most companies frown on surfboards being carried on their cars. In most cases they will allow it but they definitely do not encourage it.
